Good food attracts customers. But good food alone cannot fascinate; a pinch of aesthetics into the interior design helps the owners increase the rush in their restaurants, cafés and bakeries. It is said to not judge a book by its cover. However, nowadays, people go to a particular restaurant not only to enjoy the food it serves but its aesthetics. The atmosphere is just as important as food.

Bringing back the traditional touch, with the use of antiques and medley colours, gives an aesthetic approach to restaurants. This takes the customers back to their good old days and makes them feel nostalgic.

Faisal Yousaf, owner and creator of Chai Wallah, said, "Chai Wallah demonstrates the old tea-shop set-up, but we serve our chai on the streets. Our concept is bringing food to the roads with good quality and hygiene."

"The old tea-shop model of design attracts many customers to our shop. The glass jars filled with snacks in front of the shop and the live cooking of tea and coffee in front of the customers makes them feel sentimental about the old tea shops."

Nowadays, those old tea shops are significantly less in numbers; instead, shops repurposing those ideas are increasing.

Joel, a resident from Perinthalmanna, said, "Today, ambience and aesthetics are primary concerns when we enter into a restaurant. I feel like most of these restaurants serve good food as well, but obviously, there are exceptions. There are a lot of restaurants coming up in my place with well-planned interiors that attracts customers."

Aadaminte Chayakada in Kozhikode gives a vibrant, cosy and lively ambience - the overall appearance sets them apart. "Their uniqueness in serving each dish attracts the customers. They have beef roast inside a vintage iron box. Their tower parotta, which is topped with cheese gratings, is then melted at the table with a crème brulee torch," added Joel.

Raju shares, "Now, anything and everything is shared on social media. People want to visit places and restaurants that others share on social media as stories and posts. Even I have had similar experiences." Kottayam Company (KoCo), a restaurant in Kottayam, is famous on social media. "I have seen many influencers, friends and others visiting the restaurant and sharing their experience along with good pictures. This took me to KoCo all the way from Kochi to taste the food and experience the ambience."

The popularity of social media and the increase in influencers' numbers have helped restaurants increase their marketing. Suppose an influencer or anyone shares a picture of an aesthetically pleasing restaurant in which they dined out. In that case, this could reach out to more people in a fraction of a second. This prompts people to visit these restaurants, take pictures and share them on social media.

These give rise to a desirable impact on the customers and the profit of the restaurant.
